Ok, I'm gett'n ready for this year's BBW. Is it gonna be 7 days instead of 4 days this year or not? Also what's the best side to stay on? I was at 1200 S. Ocean Blvd last year and it was ok, but I keep hearing about the other side is much more fun, what's the 411?

BBW 2004 officially this year is only 3 days, but a lot of people come a day early for the meet and greet parties. I believe next year it will be officiallly 7 days. If you stayed at 1200 S. Ocean Blvd. You should have been in the heart of things, but the cops really cracked down on the hanging out and traffic flow. If you more info on whats going on this year, hit me back at knight028@hotmail.com

Kweisi Mfume over at the NAACP said for everyone to keep their black azz out of South Carolina and don't spend a nickel there. Something about the Confederate flag, people of color, oppression and such. Anyway, make sure you don't end up being a race traitor by going to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina over the Memorial Day weekend for Black Bike Week. www.blackbikeweek.net/ "Kweisi Mfume, NAACP President & CEO, said: "The NAACP rejects the Confederacy-of-the-mind- mentality of South Carolina's legislators who think that taking the flag from atop the Capitol but placing it on an illuminated, 30-foot flagpole directly in front of the Capitol is acceptable. The new placement is totally unacceptable, equally as offensive and grossly divisive. If people want to fly the Confederate flag, they should fly it on private property and not public grounds." The economic sanctions imposed by the NAACP against the South Carolina's tourism industry January 1, 2000 remain in effect. Last year the state's tourist industry lost over $100 million dollars as a result of the boycott, which persuaded lawmakers to remove the flag from inside the Capitol's chambers and from atop the dome." www.naacp.org/news/releases/confederateflag011201.shtml

It's up to the individual but we do represent in numbers. To anyone going to BBW '04 have FUN & be safe! Alot of talk around the city I live is NO talk of BBW! Honestly, everybody I know (which are the grown azz people) are going else where and leaving the BIKES and the BEACHES of Myrtle Beach to the kids that now make up most of the crowd that will attend! Regardless of what anyone says boycott or not....looks like BBW is staying in Myrtle Beach, SC for now...Mr Mfume means well but he's trying to motivate a mass of black peeps that are not much into boycotts as they are into "BOOTY", the second class treatment down in Myrtle Beach during BBW alot of people have just gotten use to and have learned to deal with it and verbally complain instead of doing something about it! Its sad because I'm from Florida and thanks to many complaints and affirmative action positive changes have come about to Black College Reunion which is much more larger than the BBW ....if you havent went down to take a look at it YOU SHOULD (at least once)! Black College Reunion had organized events on the beach long before BETs "SPRING BLING" stepped into the action! Daytonas Chamber of Commerce and City did not TRIP for long...they knew the financial impact of that event..and it is still going strong today! Please go to the website of "BLACK FLORIDIAN"..and you will see what I mean!
